From President Sonny Colvin
August 4th, 2008 I regret my lack of participation in chapter activities lately and feel that some explanation to the chapter is needed. My 71 year old mother went to Central Carolina Hospital on June 27th complaining of a stomachache. They found an intestinal blockage which had become infected and surgically removed the infected part on June 30th. She has recently suffered a setback in her recovery and was moved to the intensive care unit. We will be transferring her to Chapel Hill this week. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Sonny

From President Sam Storch 4/16/08 After 22 years in Pinehurst Robin and I will be moving to Winston-Salem. We will miss everyone here, but will only be 2 hours away and hope to stay in close contact. Considering our relocation I am compelled to resign my position as CBA chapter president. Robin will be resigning her position as legislative coordinator. We plan to join the CBA chapter in Winston-Salem and continue our efforts to promote motorcycle rights and education. Sam

From President Sam Storch 12/03/07 We are progressively developing into a mature and appropriately running chapter. Our chapter web site is up, although still under development. Ray Ulansey has done a fine job, and deserves our appreciation. I encourage all members to log on at least weekly at On November 17 our Legislative Coordinator (Robin Storch), Michelle Brewer (who is interested in becoming an officer), and I attended the officers training seminar in Asheboro. We found the sessions very instructive and will be sharing the information with our other chapter officers, prospective and future officers, and any other members who so desire. Afterwards we had a great time at the annual state banquet where we were joined by our Secretary Scott Reynolds, Anna Reynolds, and Danny Puckett. CBA of the Pines received two awards; one for the significant number of members of a new chapter and one for the notable rate of member recruitment. State Representative Dale Folwell was honored and was a key note speaker. He is a most admirable and valuable ally in the state house. We were then entertained by "Barney Fife." The party then moved from the Asheboro CBA Hall to the Asheboro Inn where we and many other CBA members from around the state spent the night. I hope next year more of our chapter members will attend.
Two of our members, Jim Rainey and Roger Campbell, have volunteered to become instructors of the Motorcycle Safety Awareness Program. I encourage any member who might be interested to let me know. If we have enough instructors signed up the state program coordinator will be able to travel to our community in the spring for instructor training (rather than fewer instructors having to travel to him). The Raleigh chapter has invited all members statewide to attend their December 2nd meeting where Rep. Nelson Dollar, a very important ally in the state legislature, will be honored and speak. Contact chapter president J. T. Boone at jt_boone@bellsouth.net for details. On November 24 our first chapter poker run was held. Despite the cool temperatures and holiday weekend 15 motorcycles participated. I expect that this initial successful event will be followed by even better and more well attended events when the weather warms. In the meantime I ask everyone to try to think of events we can produce or participate in. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Our next membership meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4 at 7 PM at Easy's in Olmstead Village in Pinehurst. Thereafter a new location for future meetings will be presented to the membership for approval. Ride long Ride safe Ride smart. Sam
